Second Life 101
Hello everyone,

I thought that I would take some time today to have a wander in second life. I found some great spots and am starting to find my way around and how to use the different features. I think I have installed and un-installed the retched thing twice over, but have finally decided to try and spend some time working it out.
Today I found myself experimenting with the main map for the Main Land. Just by typing in some search terms to see what it would come up with. I searched for Education and found myself on Education Island, which has a couple of interesting activities, but this place didn't really appeal to me as I couldn't clearly see it's purpose. It looks like there were a couple of classrooms, which I'm guessing get used for the owners online faciliation sessions.
So I took myself off for a little round the world trip and found myself in Paris, standing in front of the Moulin Rouge, which I off course had to take a photo of and free falling off of the top of the Eiffel tower. Not intentionally, my parachute didn't open. And right now my character (Katharina Qinan) is spending her time on an Italian Island Resort Camping on a Park Bench, making 2 Linden dollars per 10 minutes. Easy way to make some free money so I can go shopping for clothes. lol :)
If you are playing around in second life at the moment as well, feel free to leave a comment to share your experiences. What to do, what not to do, cool places to go etc. We would love to hear from you.

Cheers

· learning with portable technologies, where the focus is on the technology (which could be in a fixed location, such as a classroom);
· learning across contexts, where the focus is on the mobility of the learner, interacting with portable or fixed technology;
· learning in a mobile society, with a focus on how society and its institutions can accommodate and support the learning of an increasingly mobile population.
